Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, named her for the town she grew up in. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father came from a Jewish family Ryder thinks she's Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County in California, when she was just seven. The town didn't even have electricity. There was no television books were Ryder's only distraction to spend the time and she became an avid reader. Ryder started to take acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Ryder landed her first film role on the large screen in 1986 aged 15 years old. older. However, she was determined to pursue the dreams she had. In 1988, she received her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder was later cast in success in roles.
